For the 2020 Season:
The MLB season in real life is 9 weeks long, to match up with that we will have:
Regular Season:
-Six weeks of tripleheaders, totaling 18 total matchups
-Eight of those will be against teams in your division
-Ten will be against the remaining teams in your league (AL or NL)
-There will be NO interleague play this season to keep things as simple as possible
Playoffs:
-Will consist of the final three weeks of the season (weeks 7,8,9)
-There will be 4 teams making the playoffs from each league
-Only 1 wildcard team this year
-AL/NLDS Week 1, AL/NLCS Week 2 and World Series Week 3
**Expect a published schedule before the beginning of the year with all your matchups**
Draft:
-The draft will begin this Saturday, 7/11/20, and will be 7 rounds
- If you forget your picks, all 7 rounds can be found on the last sheet of the master (next to Washington/Montreal)
-The clock will be 24 hours throughout, we don’t expect to begin early due to all the other things we need to do in order to get ready
-IFA will NOT be available in this year’s draft
-Instead, all drafted and SIGNED UDFA will be able to be drafted
-Players who were not signed (I.e. are going to college) will not be eligible
**IFA and Rule V will be combined together and will now consist of a 3 round draft with every team having picks.**
**Regular in-season FA will continue as will the Waiver Wire (We don’t anticipate this being used though with the 60 player pools in real MLB)**
Other Important Things:
-Scoring will remain H2H most categories this season with us having 18 expected matchups
-Player contracts WILL advance this season. To compensate for the shortened season and in addition to the new rules agreed to this offseason each time will:
-Have 1 extension for an expiring player or a player ending his 6th YOS
-Be able to run back 1 player’s year of service
-There will be no trade deadline this year UNTIL the playoffs begin in Week 7 (should be around the week of September 7th)
-There will be no UDFA period like the MLB had this year, all undrafted players will go to the Rule V pool this offseason
TBD: With COVID cases expected during the season, we expect to increase the IL slots from 3 to 5 OR have an unlimited amount of spaces on a COVID IL
TBD: If the MLB shuts down at any point, contracts will not advance and the league will just begin a normal offseason program
-Only exception is if our season is over obviously
-IF we don’t crown a champion, there will be no need to advance contracts
