As we know, MLBSim in its current iteration faces several problems as old commish's have rolled off from the league. This, along with other issues have caused some of the problems we're trying to deal with currently.
We're gonna try and fix 'em together, but they take time, & documenting this shit through groupme is not sustainable. So, this is intended to be a living list of the things we collectively agree are problems, what we're doing about them, and how close they are to being fixed.
KNOWN ISSUES
- Arbitration schedule caused too steep of increases to be applied
PROPOSAL: Create a poll to assess consensus on need for change. Possibly scale down arb increases.
ETA: During IRL Playoffs
- Free agency contract values did not work well, causing $1M / 4 year contracts to be more valued than $4M / 1 year contracts
PROPOSAL: Create some sort of CV system
ETA: 2019-2020 offseason
- No long-term extension policy exists
PROPOSED: Create a MLBSim specific extension policy, to take effect in the 2020-2021 offseason
ETA: 2019-2020 offseason
- Rules as posted on proboards are outdated
PROPOSED: Re-write via google docs, updating the finalized versions of these rules
UPDATE: Link to Google doc is located HERE
OTHER QUESTIONS
Should we add a Rule 5 draft for acquisition of unowned prospects in future years?
Is a $2M cap increase every 3 years sufficient?
Should we create an offseason non-tender process for year 3-6 experienced players?
Should we offer the ability to pay off multi-year waiver penalties in one year?
Should we create a increasing cap hit for prospect count (<50 free, 50-75 $250k, 75+ $500k)
SOLVED ISSUES
- Trade deadline is unknown. Trade deadline officially set for 8/28 at 11:59:59 Eastern
- 2019 Extension policy is unknown. IRL Extensions can continue to be exercised through the IRL 2019 World Series
- Master & Fantrax rosters do not tie across all teams. As of 8/13 the reconciliation process is complete and the two should match.
- Teams are over cap. Relief given, NYM & SF cut to make cap. OAK currently non-responsive
- League is too much for any single person to manage. Committees all now full
- Years of experience was trued-up mid-season. Relief system proposed & will be implemented in offseason
