I feel as if the biggest problem with the old system was just the high contract values from arbitration. The system worked, it can always be tweaked, but what really needs to be look at and adjusted are the contract values, especially since we are a salary cap league.

The values/formulas are too high, they just have to be toned down some. Example: Shelby Miller's ARB contract is $6.37M based off his 2018 numbers, his numbers were 10.69 ERA, 0-4 with 16 IP. How the hell does that warrant a $6.37M pay day?

I'll start pumping out some math... But DBacks --- if you look at the MLB system -- this is what they look at from the MLB rules site ---
The player’s contribution to the team which can include performance and leadership qualities. The club’s win-loss record and its overall attendance. A player’s “special accomplishments” which could include All-Star game appearances, awards won, and postseason performance. The salaries of comparable players in the same service-time class. For those players with fewer than five years of service the panel can also compare players with service-time class one year ahead.
Maybe Miller had great lockerroom leadership and his reps fought hard LOL.
AGain part of the "big jump" is because the rookie salaries arent in line with Free agency and the like either.
using Miller as an example.... was he ARB 1? Or what was his salary in 2018...

As mentioned in chat but I'll add it here I think Miller's 2018 salary was $4.7M (http://mlbsimdynasty.proboards.com/thread/662/arizona-diamondbacks-cash-considerations-2018). He's a (7) now, so he was in his last year of ARB then.
