FYPD picks outside of the top picks have very little value in leagues that allow prospects to be claimed outside of drafts. Top FYPD picks obviously retain their value, the prospects project to be future MLB regulars and stars. But good FYPD picks are no different than strong waiver claims. Dart throw FYPD picks have virtually no value in this system since you can do the same at any time with waiver claims. I’ll play whatever prospects system is implemented but that’s my 2 cents.

Waiver priority on fantrax eliminates mooches entirely. So there is a way to eliminate it. I'm for a waiver priority. So are we discussing blind waiver claims weekly and use priority if the same person is claimed in the week? I'm guessing week 1 is going to be Ty Buttrey with 30 claims, so it'll come down to whoever has the 1st waiver priority. Also think we should cap weekly claims to 3.

Is there a way to place claims using the points system or a budget on fantrax?
It can still be blind claims, but each team has a non-tradable budget for the season. For example: Limit of 20 points, you can use 20 points at one time on one player or use 1 point twenty different times. Multiple claims with the same point value would fall to waiver priority. Would help limit a teams acquisitions over the season while still allowing teams to claim on a weekly basis.
We could set a deadline for blind prospect acquisitions. April until July, before our FYPD, and then all remaining players can also be selected in the draft if we expand it a few rounds. Then all unowned prospects lock until next year? I guess you could still offer a free agent deal, but that would be at your own will.
I think there's a multitude of solutions, we just need to find the "best" solution for us.

Either a "FAAB" like you're suggesting or priority like yearly fantasy leagues, or a combo like you also said. All good ideas imo

You can do this on fantrax, it's what I was referring to when I said prospect points, it's how we did it in our NHL league.
