So a first-time scenario which didn't have rules laid out for it occurred. I would make a decision, but my team is involved, and Beckett wasn't leaning one way or another.
So, last year I waived Jaime Garcia, and he's still on my cap this year for waiving penalty. In the league rules, it says you can waive someone who retired for no cap penalty. When I waived Garcia, obviously, he was an active player. He just retired last week.
Given the fact he is now retired, should I still be on the hook to pay that waived cap hit, should the penalty be cut in half, or should the penalty be wiped? I really don't care either way, I can survive with the 5m cap hit. I truly don't care, I just want to set a precedent now to avoid any confusion in the future. Thanks everyone!
PLEASE NOTE: This is for players who only retire while on IRL contracts. Players who retire while on a contract signed in MLBSD FA will still receive a penalty, regardless.
