Reds trade:
SS Xander Bogaerts (5) $7.05
SP Dylan Bundy (3) $1.00
RP Kelvin Herrera (6) $7.94
Royals trade:
SS/3B Manny Machado (6) $16.00
2B/SS/3B Asdrubal Cabrera (8) $8.50
RP/SP Brian Johnson (1) $0.30 $0.50 $1.00
The Reds finally add a star to this lineup. We've had plenty of depth for a while but Machado brings top level talent that someone like Gennett or Cain can't really provide. Bogaerts has been a top SS in his own right and Bundy has shown flashes of being a potential ace but I am all in now and Machado helps me more this year than either of them ever could. As long as he gets moved out of BAL then I'm ecstatic. It'll be great to see what he can do in a real lineup. He will likely come with a hefty pricetag next season but after clearing out all other big contracts, I think my cap situation is in a good position to pay this kid what he's worth. He's a lot younger than Votto or Price so I won't be paying him until he's 40.
As for the other two... Cabrera is a good depth piece that helps me round out my infield. His multi-eligibilty allows me to have a backup now at every position but CF. And BJ should provide some solid SP & RP depth. He should pick up some starts now with Wright/Pomeranz out and hopefully he can stay in the pen with a multiple innings relief type role.
Edit: Please call up Brian Johnson to the majors.
