NYY trades Trevor Stephan (Prospect)
TOR trades $10M 2019 cap
Accept, last prospect I bought was Jake Bauers and that worked out well.
Good luck keeping Bryce Nate.

Veto. I’m sorry but this kid is doing bad down in the minors. I’m honestly telling ya he’s not even worth $5 M

I mean he's definitely not worth 10 million or anything close but the fact that Nate could get 10 for him and matt is fine with paying that much for a prospect seems like everyone is consenting here. No guarantees Harper can be covered even with this 10 million so there could be a whole lotta cap for a guy hitting UFA and he's losing a prospect in taking this risk. Imma pass it only because Harper's contract is so unknown and this could blow up in Nate's face so the risk seems worth the pay.
TL;DR Im rationalizing my pass of the trade while taking a shit at work

Approve - if the prospect never reaches the majors you burn 10m cap of a single season, I don’t see the harm.
And as someone who is in the market for buying prospects with 2019 cap, I don’t love NYY was able to get 10m for this prospect but certainly can’t veto. That’s how markets work - the two teams agree and there isn’t going to be any long term harm to either team.

People can value players however they want so I’ll pass for that reason.
But the amount of cap that gets traded in this league is unreasonable and really hurts competing teams with no assets or tanking teams with no cap. REALLY need a limit on that shit.

And to clarify, I’m not saying this prospect isn’t worth 10m. Just as a buyer in this market, I want to see the cap as low as possible when buying prospects

Sigh. This feels like enough $ for multiple prospects. No knock against Stephan.
However, Matt's got so much cap available in 2019 it doesn't actually hurt him at all.

Veto. Agreed with what has been said above. That's like 10% of the cap for a fringe pitching prospect.... doesn't really seem like the Yankees are giving up enough.

Approve.
I agree with above that cap trading needs to reviewed and possibly adjusted with some kind of limit.
